English and foreign language cinema

The widespread practice of dubbing foreign films into German means that for all but the most proficient in the language, cinema-going is a very unfulfilling enterprise. Luckily, there are over 20 cinema houses that regularly screen films either in the original version (look for OV or OF beside the title) or in the original version with German or English subtitles (OmU or OmEngl, respectively). Please note that original version does not necessarily mean English! Most of these cinemas are located in Kreuzberg. As the majority of foreign films shown here are imports from North America or the UK, in a given week, there is usually a good variety of films for English speakers to coose from.
